How to connect self starter alternator | self starter problem

How to connect self starter alternator | self starter problem

The engine self starter motor is responsible for turning the engine over during ignition As the solenoid coils pull in the plunger, a lever fork attached to the end of the plunger pushes out the starter gear or pinion gear. This movement meshes the small pinion gear with the larger engine flywheel ring gear.

I tell you about my struggle when — lost in the Spanish mountains south of Bilbao — I was unable to start my Clio 2 diesel after a short break.

Above all, I will explain 3 things to you that I should have checked before calling assistance!

Following a start with first gear engaged and the handbrake not removed, my Renault Clio 2 will no longer start.

I turned the ignition on but nothing happened when I tried to start.

Take some time to analyze the situation:

- Do you have the red immobilizer light that goes out when you turn on the ignition?

- Do you hear the starter trying to crank the engine when you turn the key?

- Do you have a sufficiently charged battery?

And above all… how do I find a solution to start this car?

- For the immobilizer, I am interested in your experiences because apart from opening and closing the car, I have not found a "simple" solution

- For the starter, try moving the car back and forth with gear engaged. You can also lightly tap the starter while turning the ignition key

- If possible, measure your battery with a multimeter. It must be stopped between 12.3 and 13.5 Volts. The ideal would also be to test it with a device that simulates starting in order to check that it delivers enough current for starting. If your battery is dead but you use your vehicle frequently, check the alternator. When your engine is running, the battery voltage is generally above 13.5 Volts.

If your immobilizer turns off correctly you can still try to start the car by pushing it. Engage second gear, depress the clutch pedal, push the car and when you have a little speed gradually (but quickly) release the clutch pedal. Compression in the cylinders should start your diesel vehicle.

This video does not answer 100% of cases of car not starting but I am interested in your other techniques in the comments!
