How to make a soft starter - Triac BT136

Starting an electric motor at full voltage can result in an inrush current up to 8 times greater than the value stated on the nameplate. Without a motor starter, the high inrush current and starting torque can cause damage over time. There are many motor starting systems available to prevent this damage, including soft starters

A soft starter uses electronic components called thyristors to control the starting voltage applied to the motor. Rather than applying the rated voltage all at once, thyristors increase the voltage gradually as the motor accelerates. Soft starters, by reducing inrush current and torque, can increase the life of electric motors.

In this last part, we approach the control circuit for star-delta starting of asynchronous motors. This type of starting is today increasingly abandoned in favor of soft starters and variable speed drives.
