on video connection of a hot water tank contactor

connection of a hot water tank contactor

A Legrand day/night contactor allows you to automatically switch on your appliances that consume a lot of energy during periods of reduced tariffs. For it to work, you must have a subscription with an off-peak pricing option. Find out how to install a Legrand day/night contactor on the electrical panel

Save with Legrand day/night contactors! Connect devices such as an electric vehicle charging station or a water heater to a contactor and turn them on while keeping your electricity bill in mind!

To install the Legrand day/night contactor, you must carry out the following steps:

• prepare the installation

• connect the differential to the row circuit breaker

• connect the circuit breaker of the water heater to the contactor

• connect the contactor and its circuit breaker to each other and to the electrical panel

• finalize the installation

Follow these steps to install a Legrand day/night contactor:

• prepare the installation:

- to secure the intervention, cut off the current at the general circuit breaker and ensure that there is no voltage at its output

- record it using a specific padlock

- cut the differential switch located at the head of the row on which the contactor has been added, i.e. the one where the circuit breaker is located which protects the device to be controlled

- put the circuit breaker concerned by the intervention in the "off" position

- remove the cover of the electrical panel and ensure that there is no current

- remove the two power supply combs from the row concerned and first clip the 2A circuit breaker next to the circuit breaker which protects the device to be controlled, for example the water heater

- then clip the day/night contactor next to the 2A circuit breaker

• connect the differential to the row circuit breaker

- use the two new power busbars to connect the differential to the row circuit breaker. One with the blue side visible on the neutral terminals, the second with the black side visible on the phase terminals.

• connect the water heater circuit breaker to the contactor:

- disconnect the neutral wire from the water heater circuit breaker, insert it into terminal 2 of the contactor and tighten it.

- then disconnect the phase wire from the water heater circuit breaker, insert it into terminal 4 of the contactor and tighten it.

- insert the stripped part of the blue neutral wire into terminal 1 of the contactor and screw

- insert the stripped part of the phase wire into terminal 3 of the contactor and screw

- cut the excess wire if necessary, keeping a sufficient length to connect the water heater circuit breaker

- strip both ends

- connect the blue neutral wire in terminal N and connect the phase wire in the phase terminal of the circuit breaker dedicated to the protection of the water heater or the electric vehicle charging station, depending on the product to be connected

• connect the contactor and its circuit breaker to each other and to the electrical panel:

In the table, two black wires come out of the decoupling relay of the energy supplier meter (Linky for example):

- strip them and connect one to the phase terminal of the 2A circuit breaker which protects the contactor

- connect the other to terminal A1 of the contactor

- prepare a new length of blue neutral wire to connect the contactor to its circuit breaker

- connect a wire to the neutral terminal of the 2A circuit breaker

- connect the other to terminal A2 of the contactor

• finalize the installation

The day/night contactor is operational and can now automatically turn on your energy-intensive device during periods with reduced rates.
