This diagram shows how to make an accurate regulated power supply of 12 Volts at 20 Amps. In fact, this diagram is a working basis for power supplies from 5 Amps to 150 Amps. For a 5 Amp power supply, a single power transistor added as an external pass, the 2N3055. With 4 2N3055 in parallel we obtain a current of 20 Amp. We calculate 5 amps more per transistor added. Based on the LM723CN integrated circuit which offers us, in addition to being variable from 2 V to 37 V, very good regulation precision in the order of 1.5 millivolts on 5 load amps.
