we explain 3 phase energy meter wiring and distribution board wiring

Connection of the electric meter to the general circuit breaker

The connection of the subscriber circuit breaker to the electricity meter can be done in two ways. If the meter is less than 30 m from the location of the circuit breaker, ERDF must install the latter in the housing (type 1 connection). On the other hand, if the circuit breaker is placed more than 30 m away, ERDF installs a circuit breaker at the property boundary (type 2 connection), and it is up to the owner to make the connection up to the GTL.

Importance of branch circuit breaker

The connection circuit breaker, also called subscriber circuit breaker or general circuit breaker, ensures the separation between the electricity meter and the distribution board. The neutral and the phase pass through the general circuit breaker from the meter to the cabinet. With a sensitivity of 500 mA, the subscriber circuit breaker cuts off all electricity in the dwelling when he jumps or if his handle is lowered.

Section of cable between the circuit breaker and the panel

To connect the general circuit breaker to the electrical panel, the section of cable to be used will depend on the length of the connection, but also on the power delivered by the meter.

For example, for a meter that delivers 9 kW and is located less than 30 m from the circuit breaker, this RO2V type copper cable will have a section of 16 mm².

The cables concerned are phase and neutral. The earth is linked to an earth stake from the electrical panel.

To connect a subscriber circuit breaker

To connect your subscriber circuit breaker to your electrical panel, trust a professional.

The cable sections are to be defined according to the length of the connection and its power according to precise standards. An expert among our certified electricians will be able to ensure a proper installation.
