on video 220V Electric Generator of a Washing Machine Motor

220V Electric Generator of a Washing Machine Motor

The electric motor of the washing machine is very easy to find, since it rarely fails compared to other nodes, and the machines themselves are constantly thrown into the landfill. The thing is very valuable for home-made people, considering how many simple machines can be built on its basis.

This engine could well work as a generator. But unfortunately, just like that, it won't produce power, because there is no permanent magnet that can create EMF in its windings.

How to start the engine of the washing machine in 220 V generator

The washer motor has the classic structure of a commutator motor. And it can work both in direct current and in alternating current. It's about managing it.

Typically the washer motor has 6 pins on the connector block: the first pair at the top are the pins for the tachometer sensor, we won't need these controls to control the speed. The other two in the middle - the output of the stator winding. The third lowest pair is the rotor pin.

In order for the motor to generate current, you must apply a certain voltage to the rotor. This will create a magnetic field on it, which in turn will create an EMF on the stator winding.

We connect the wires to the rotor, to which the power source will be connected in the future.

The multimeter has produced a certain value, which means that energy is being generated.

Replace the 3.7 V battery with a 12 V battery. Rotate it by hand.

The motor of the washing machine is rather hungry as a voltage generator, but it is difficult to "plug" it somewhere, because it provides direct current, requires high revolutions, requires additional power to operate, and is stops, this power must be turned off.

But there are advantages: the output current can be easily controlled by adjusting the rotor circuit current, there is no magnetic blocking, small in size compared to permanent magnet generators.
