on video Lecture 5 Learn all about the Aircraft Fuselage

In this lecture we cover the critical aircraft components such as fuselage, wings, landing gear, engines, bulkheads. We have also invited Mr. Scott Lee for a special presentation on the application of engineering principles to tackle Nacelle engine manufacturing, design, and analysis.

The composite fuselage section of a Boeing 787 being constructed. After very long carbon fibre strands are joined together, the section is baked in a giant oven to make a material harder than normal aluminium.
Some Aircraft that fly in high subsonic, transonic and supersonic speed have a curved fuselage. This design is not made to look good! But to reduce a drag component called as Wave Drag.
Wave Drag is created because of the formation of shock waves on the wing and ahead of the leading edge.
We look at what are shock waves and what is area rule and how it is applied on an aircraft
