What Is Power Contactor, Power Contactor and Auxiliary Contactor Working Principle

It has the same function as an electromechanical relay, except that its contacts are designed to carry a much greater current.

Contactors are used to supply small, medium and high power industrial motors. They have a high breaking capacity.

They are also used in the home to power electrical appliances such as heating or water heaters, because the control devices (thermostat, time switch and other control contacts) could be quickly damaged by excessive current.

They are also found in certain vehicles, such as the mercury ignition switch/contactor (containing approximately 1 gram of mercury) which allows the light illuminating the trunk to be turned on when the bonnet is opened from a certain angle (sometimes replaced by a ball contactor). Mercury contactors are also used in many home appliances
