How to wire 2 way light switch

How to wire 2 way light switch

A dual-ignition switch is a switch with two control buttons. It is used to turn on / off two lights from the same place, without additional bulk. It can also be connected in double back and forth, associated with a second switch.
Concretely, a double ignition switch allows two lighting circuits to be switched on and off from the same position in the room. This type of installation requires a different connection than that used for a single control point. Here is how to do it.

Install a standard dual-ignition switch
The purpose of the single ignition switch is to control a lighting circuit. The purpose of double lighting is to control two lighting circuits. The latter has two keys, each dedicated to a lighting circuit.

It is made up of two electric switches, integrated in the same mechanism. For this reason, the double ignition switch requires a connection to each lighting circuit. The phase is common to both switches.

Before installing your switch, first turn off the relevant circuit (via the circuit breaker accessible on the electrical panel). Then carry out the first steps of a lambda switch installation, drilling the hole and placing the back box.

Then connect the wires as follows:

The phase on terminal L of the first switch;
Another phase wire (generally red) connecting the two L terminals of the two switches between them;
A wire connecting each switch to the desired light point (terminal 1 or 2 depending on the model);
A neutral wire and an earth wire connecting the two lights to the electrical panel.

Finally, insert the bracket for the dual-ignition switch into the junction box, secure it, and install the cover plate. You can turn on the power again and test your installation.
