An RLC circuit in electrokinetics is a linear circuit containing an electrical resistance, a coil (inductance) and a capacitor (capacitance).

There are two types of series or parallel RLC circuits, depending on the interconnection of the three types of components. The behavior of an RLC circuit is generally described by a second order differential equation (where RL circuits or RC circuits behave like first order circuits).

Using a signal generator, we can inject oscillations into the circuit and in some cases observe a resonance, characterized by an increase in current (when the selected input signal corresponds to the circuit's own pulsation, which can be calculated from the differential equation that governs it).
